The Washington University Journal of Undergraduate Research

Submission and Guidelines

Spring 2026: Vol. 2, No. 2

All work should be prepared and submitted by the application deadline, including both the Submissions Form and your Research Document. To avoid any surprises, we recommend viewing the form and preparing all your materials at least a week in advance.

Preparing Your Manuscript

Please prepare your manuscript in the same format as demonstrated below (Manuscript Template). The easiest is to download this Word file and simply fill in your work. However, our formatting requirements are flexible. We encourage authors to format their manuscripts in a manner that makes it easier for peer reviewers to read and review the manuscript. Please read the Submission Guidelines fully prior to submitting your work.

How to Submit Your Work

The Submissions Google Form below will guide you through all required fields necessary to submit your work. It should only take 10-15 minutes and will save your progress. In order, it asks for:

  1. Name, Current Status at WashU*, WashU Email
  2. Information on Your Research Project
    • Is this Original Research or a Review?
    • The relative length of your work (word count)
    • Field of study, and its Division (Arts/Humanities; Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering; Social Sciences)
    • Submission title
    • Approx. 150-300 word abstract
    • The WashU faculty member who advised this work, if relevant
    • Your level of contribution to this work
    • Is this work published or under consideration for publication in a different journal?
  3. Confirmation That You Understand the WUJUR Submission and Review Process
  4. Your Manuscript Submission (refer to the Manuscript Template and Submission Guidelines)

*Please note that WUJUR is only accepting work from WashU-affiliated students, faculty, and alumni at this time.

Submission Form

As of 1/27/26: Please note that we are currently migrating submissions over to a WashU Libraries supported system which will make the review process easier on your behalf.
